Siege War

Siege War is an addon for Towny that brings nation vs. nation warfare into Minecraft through banner-based battles.

Overview & Key Changes

  • Wars can be declared Wednesday through Sunday.
  • Battle Sessions run at default times: 11:00 and 19:00 server time.
  • A war is won when a side secures 5 battle session victories.
  • Decisive victory threshold is 5000 points.

Starting a Siege

  • Nations pay an upfront cost of $10 per plot in the defending town (non-refundable).
  • Nations deposit $20 per plot into a Warchest (refunded if attacker wins, awarded to defenders if they win).
  • To start a siege:
    1. Place a siege banner within 1 town block of the enemy town border.
    2. Banner must be placed on the town’s edge (surface warfare).
    3. Siege begins when the banner is placed.

Battle Sessions

  • Happen daily at 11:00 and 19:00 server time.
  • Each lasts 60 minutes.
  • First side to win 5 battle sessions wins the siege.

Banner Control

  • Capture requires 7 minutes near the siege banner.
  • While held, attackers and defenders both earn +10 points every 20 seconds.
  • Reversal Bonus: when control switches, the new side earns points with a 3x multiplier for a time.
  • Points also gained/lost from PvP:
    • Kill enemy = +150 points for your side.
    • Death = -150 points from your side.

Victory Types

  • Decisive Victory: win margin of 5000+ points.
  • Close Victory: win margin below 5000 points (rewards reduced by 50%).

Special Rules

  • Abandoning: Attackers place a white banner near the siege banner to abandon the siege.
  • Surrendering: Defenders place a white banner near the siege banner to surrender.
  • Keep Inventory: Enabled in siege zones. On death, items lose 5% durability.
  • Siege Zone Radius: 200 blocks from the siege banner.
  • Non-participants: Entering siege zones without being part of the war causes War Sickness if not leaving in 20 seconds.
  • Peaceful Towns: Cannot be sieged, and can only be subverted by their own nation.

Military Roles & Commands

  • Ranks:
    • General: leads in war, can be a Battle Commander.
    • Soldiers: nation members assigned military ranks.
  • Commands:
    • /t rank add <player> guard - makes it so the player is able to obtain battle points for a town
    • /n rank add <player> (captain, colonel, general, lieutenant, major, private, sergeant) - Allows the player to gain battle points for the nation
    • /n nation paysoldiers <amount> → Pay military salaries.

Chest Shops

Chest Shops allow players to buy and sell items with in-game money.

Buying & Selling

  • Right-Click the shop sign → Buy the item (cost is taken from your /bal and items go into your inventory).
  • Left-Click the shop sign → Sell the item (money is added to your /bal).

If the shop sign has an S on the price line, it means you can sell items to it.

Creating a Chest Shop

  1. Place a chest.
  2. Put a sign on the chest (or right above it).
  3. Fill out the sign like this:
    [Leave Blank]
    B <buy price> : S <sell price>
    <quantity>
    ?
  4. After placing the sign, hit the sign with the item you want to sell/buy. The plugin will set the shop to that item.

Example shop sign

[YourName]
B 10 : S 5
64
?

This creates a shop where:

  • Players can buy 64 items for $10.
  • Players can sell 64 items to you for $5.

Ranks Guide

Ranks let you unlock new permissions and abilities as you progress on the server. Each rank requires a certain amount of in-game money to purchase.

Viewing Rank Perks

  • Use /ranks to see all available ranks and what permissions or perks each one gives.

Ranking Up

  • Java Edition: Simply use /rankup to move to the next rank (if you have enough money).
  • Bedrock Edition:
    1. Run /rankup.
    2. When you see a green [Accept], type /rankup confirm.
    3. If you have enough in-game money, you’ll rank up.

Paid (Donor) Ranks

  • Paid ranks are available for purchase and allow you to bypass some or all of the in-game money grind.
  • Paid ranks typically grant many of the permissions and perks of higher ranks immediately.
  • You can preview paid ranks at /warp afk — the rank options are displayed behind you at that warp.
  • Buying a paid rank is optional and is separate from the in-game /rankup progression.

Important Notes

  • Every rank (free or paid) has a set money cost or price. Make sure to check your balance (/bal) before attempting to rank up or buy a paid rank.
  • Ranking up is progressive — you must go through ranks in order when using /rankup.
  • If you’re on Bedrock, remember the two-step confirmation process: /rankup → /rankup confirm.

Example

If Rank 1 → Rank 2 costs $5,000 in-game, you need at least $5,000 in your balance.

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • If /rankup fails: check your balance with /bal, ensure you’re on the correct edition (Bedrock needs confirmation), and confirm there are no server announcements or restrictions.
  • If a paid rank doesn’t apply correctly, contact staff or file a ticket — include your username and proof of purchase.
  • Want to save for ranks? Try running /warp afk to find AFK spots, sell items at chest shops, or use server jobs to earn money faster.

Jobs Guide

How Jobs Work

  • Players pick a job (or multiple jobs) and gain experience (XP) by doing job-related actions such as breaking blocks, placing blocks, killing mobs, fishing, crafting, etc.
  • As you level up in a job, your earnings increase. Higher levels = more money per action and more XP gains.

Commands & Usage

  • /jobs — Opens the jobs menu or shows available jobs.
  • /jobs join <job> — Join a specific job.
  • /jobs leave <job> — Leave a job (may have consequences).
  • /jobs info <job> — See details about a job (level, XP, earnings).
  • /jobs top <job> — View top players in that job (by level or earnings).
  • Signs can also be used, with [jobs] on first line and other commands in following lines.

Double Jobs & XP Tokens

  • Use /jobbonus bal to check how many 2× tokens you have.
  • If you have tokens available, run /jobbonus start to start a 1‑hour 2× event for the whole server.
  • If a 2× event is already running, you cannot start another until the current one ends.
  • During the event, all job-related money and XP gains are multiplied by 2.

Jobs & Ranks

  • The number of jobs you can have at one time depends on your rank.
  • As you rank up (see Ranks Guide above), you unlock more job slots.
  • This means higher ranks allow you to join multiple jobs at once, giving you more ways to earn money and XP.

Tips & Notes

  • Make sure to choose jobs that match your playstyle (e.g. miner, farmer, hunter).
  • Work on leveling jobs even outside of 2× events — regular gains will stack up.
  • Save your 2× tokens and use them strategically (e.g. during big farm sessions or group events).
  • If /jobbonus start doesn’t work, check if an event is active already.
